Why I Am Your Facebook Friend

2 Apr

Earlier this year I wrote a post on why I unfriended you on Facebook and I thought I would follow it up because I don’t want you to get the wrong idea!

My Facebook Friends

I am not one who loves to be annoyed. I don’t go on Facebook so that I can feel better about myself by reading your status updates and scoffing. No the reason why I return again (and again and again!) is because I thoroughly enjoy seeing your smile, “hearing” your laugh, and getting inspired to do better in my own personal life.

So for the following reasons, I say thank you, dear friend, for being such a great Facebook Friend:

You entertain me!
Whether you say something hilarious, share a funny video or repost humor…you always make me smile. A twinge of your sarcasm or social awareness humor is my favorite! I confess, often times I visit your page, just to giggle :)

Facebook humor

You are an Insightful, Truth Teller.
You speak so eloquently and always raise my inner-game to another level. Your pinpointed thoughts are like mental food that opens me up to a deeper level of understanding people, feelings, actions, reactions, business strengths and even weaknesses.

Why I Unfriended You on Facebook

7 Dec

Hi there, I joined Facebook to connect with Friends, Family, and Like-minded people from all over this Earth. I enjoy browsing Facebook during the mornings and periodically throughout the day and catching up with you. However, your posts are irritating me; therefore for one of the reasons below, I have decided to remove you from my friends on Facebook.

You are addicted to Farmville.

Facebook FarmvilleIf you’re constantly raving about your carrots, bragging about how great of a virtual neighbor you are and requesting your friends send you cobs-of-corn, I question your sanity. I’m not sure how long you’ve been chasing the rabbit and it’s just unpleasant to watch.

I mean seriously…we are talking about a fictional farm you have to pay to “grow”.

Midland, TX couple win a Mashable Award!

26 Feb

loraandlaytonMy town is pimp…yesterday I was at the DQ with my family and I was reading the paper (lol-I’m old ok) and I found out that OMG–a couple, Lora and Layton Ellis, from MY town Midland, TX won Most Inspiring to Follow 2009 Award from Mashable—YES the Social Media giant!!!  They won for their daily YouTube diary about FAMILY. Ever since Lora found out she had a bun in the oven, she has been documenting the journey of  life with her camera and posting the videos to the couple’s YouTube channel.

The Ellises’ YouTube site now has 3,400 subscribers and averages five more per day. Last summer they were asked to become YouTube partners and allow the site to advertise within their videos. In December they were honored with “Most Inspiring to Follow” in the 2009 Mashable Open Web Awards.

“As the winner of the ‘Most Inspiring to Follow’ category in the Open Web Awards, loraandlayton has been voted among the best of the Web in 2009,” Mashable CEO Pete Cashmore said in a press release.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Midland, TX–we are most infamously known for being where the Presidential Bush family hails from, where Baby Jessica fell in the well, and well… “wells”. We love our oil here!! Truth be told, the majority of people still sit around and watch the local 6 o” clock news and wouldn’t know a Tweet if it bit them :)

It blows my mind that a Midland, TX couple won an award from the un-arguable LEADER in the social media revolution Mashable.com! Go, Tall City, Go!
